Depending on the time of year you are there, be prepared to have super cold, pickled feet at the end of the night. Like walk for an extra 5 minutes & there will be way less people in your background. You can also walk super far across the Bonneville Salts Flats to get away from the people. A little moisturizer will also help since the salt really dries out your skin. Bring towels and bottles of water to wash away the salt once you are done. So pack clear sandals or wear shoes you don’t mind destroying. But those hard crystals under the water just kill the feet after awhile. We went barefoot on the salt flats because we didn’t want to ruin shoes. Tips for shooting at the Bonneville Salt Flats: Crystallized salt is sharp. They danced around & were even willing to lay in the cold water which I loved! We also hit a dryer section of the Salt Flats where we didn’t have to worry about splashing salt water every time we moved! Amber & Steve are married & it was so much fun to do a Bonneville Salt Flats couples session with them. I seriously cannot get enough of this location. After a short while we hit the road again for the drive west to the Bonneville Salt Flats. I lived in SLC I’d shoot there all the darn time, it’s magic. We made a quick stop at Great Saltair heading out of town since the light was beautiful & I wanted to see how it looked when it wasn’t storming.
